Will Obama follow Paul Ryan on his stance on medical marijuana?

Recently, Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Paul Ryan spoke out that he personally believes that the legalization of medical marijuana should be handled by the states.  Will President Obama follow suit and support his original pre-elected stance to leave medical marijuana legalization to the states?  Coming into office, Obama made many promises to leave the state programs alone, but as we all know, his administration went ahead attacking California and Colorado dispensaries, as well as others.  This created very little safe access to cannabis for patients.  We all hope Obama makes good on his original promise!

Linda reviews the Silver Surfer Vaporizer (SSV)

I’m back with one of the most popular and best performing vaporizers out there – the Silver Surfer Vaporizer!  I got mine a few weeks ago and wanted to give it a lot of solo practice before giving you all a review, as I’d previously only tried it a few times.  Although this is meant to be used to tobacco or other herbs, I think it is perfect for medical marijuana patients to use as a cannabis vaporizer.  Extremely customizable from the graphics to the hose to the baseplate and even the heat cover – it’s hard to not drool over this thing.  With great warrantees, extremely durable aluminum housing and a quick-heat ceramic heating element, this vaporizer is definitely among the top vapes out there.  Check out more information at http://www.silversurfervap.com

New Jersey’s Medical Marijuana Registry Finally Goes Live!

It’s about time!  After two years of waiting on the State to make a move after NJ residents overwhelmingly voted to pass medical marijuana in the state, the registry has finally gone live!  State Health Commissioner Mary O’Dowd was the center of attention as the much anticipated medical marijuana registry went into action. About 150 doctors around the state who have registered for the program have had access to the website for a couple of months now in order to familiarize themselves with the process. August 13th was the first day potential patients were able to log on.  Although NJ is only allowing patients with debiliating, life-threatening illnesses become patients, we can only hope that future legislation allows ALL patients to participate.

10 Years to Life for Medical Marijuana: The Trial of Aaron Sandusky

This is a great video I found from Reason.TV about Aaron Sandusky.

From the video description: “This is a Constitutional battle, and we’re going to defend our rights,” says Aaron Sandusky, the owner of a medical marijuana dispensary in Upland, California who now faces federal drug trafficking charges even though he was operating within California state law.

Reason.tv first profiled Sandusky in late 2011 in the midst of a federal crackdown on marijuana dispensaries across California, which occurred despite repeated promises from the Obama administration to lay off operators compliant with state law (Incidentally, the city of Upland, which initiated the legal action against G3, admitted in court that Sandusky was operating within state law). During the production of that video, Sandusky’s storefront and grow house were raided, his assets seized and his product destroyed. But Sandusky was undeterred and joined a lawsuit with several other dispensary owners, challenging the right of city governments to outright ban dispensaries. After a favorable ruling from an appellate court, Sandusky re-opened, and the city of Upland was powerless to stop him. But the Feds were not happy with this outcome.

Sandusky was arrested and charged with six counts of drug trafficking, some of which could carry a life sentence. He’s spent the last seven weeks in a county prison, just awaiting a bond hearing. He finally was granted bail last Friday and is now out on house arrest, where he awaits an October trial to decide his fate. He agreed to sit down with Reason.tv for an interview to discuss his case, the state of medical marijuana in this country, and why this is a cause for which he’s willing to risk it all.

“If I have to go to jail for 20 years defending this, then so be it,” says Sandusky.

Is it Time to Legalize Marijuana? (I’d sure say so.)

This clip is a great segment from Richard French Live – a political commentator who featured the topic of whether it is time to legalize marijuana.  This is a great clip to show anyone interested in the subject.  There is not only lots of money to be made from marijuana/cannabis, but millions of people that it can help medicinally!  LEGALIZE CANNABIS NOW!

Los Angeles City Council Unanimously Votes to Ban Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Thanks to TYT for posting this video —  From the video description:

“In what could be a turning point in the city’s seemingly unending battle to regulate the distribution of medical marijuana, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to ban all pot dispensaries, while also opening the door to possibly let some remain. Under the ban, all of the 762 dispensaries registered in the city will be sent letters ordering them to shut down immediately. Those that don’t comply may face legal action from the city…”.* Is this connected to the federal crackdown from the Obama Administration? Cenk Uygur, Douglas Caballero, and Cara Santa Maria break it down on The Young Turks.

More Studies Requested to Show Link Between Cannabis and Chronic Pain Relief

Cannabis cures, so why are we still arguing over it?

Studies on medical marijuana continue to be made that disprove the reasoning by the DEA to classify cannabis as a Schedule I drug with no medical benefit.  Here is another video discussing how more studies continue to show that cannabis treats chronic pain.  Unfortunately, the individuals reporting the story don’t seem to know all that much about cannabis to the fact that they don’t question WHY IT WAS MADE ILLEGAL.  News flash, news reporters – MARIJUANA WAS NOT MADE ILLEGAL FOR ITS CHEMICAL PROPERTIES!

California Appeals Court says Medical Marijuana dispensaries are LEGAL

Link to Original Article @ SFGate.com – http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/CA-court-strikes-down-LA-County-s-pot-shop-ban-3682086.php

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California appeals court has struck down Los Angeles County’s ban on medical marijuana dispensaries.

The 4th District Court of Appeal ruled Monday that because the state’s medical marijuana laws authorize cooperatives and collectives to grow, store and distribute pot, a lower court judge erred when she cited the 2010 ban in granting the county an injunction against the Alternative Medicinal Cannabis Collective last year.

However, the decision does not mean the coast is clear for the Covina dispensary. The Court of Appeal says even though L.A. County can’t outlaw pot shops completely, local lawmakers still can limit where they locate require them to obtain operating permits and business licenses.

Federal prosecutors also have cracked down by moving to seize the building that houses Alternative Medicinal Cannabis.

Jon Stewart Criticizes Chris Christie Marijuana Veto Hypocrisy

As a former resident (born and raised!) of New Jersey, I keep my eye on the news there. Recently, Governor Chris Christie vowed to veto a marijuana decriminalization bill that was overwhelmingly passed by the state senate. Jon Stewart skewers the hell out of him. Enjoy!

Cannabis is NOT a gateway drug!

Here is another great cannabis news video from The Young Turks!  Misinformed people everywhere believe cannabis is a gateway drug and will cause you to move on to other, worse, harder drugs.  This has been proven to be false time and time again, now check out this video as TYT discusses it further.
