We need to talk about cannabis…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbO7piZ0ytg

We can’t ignore it anymore. It has gone on for far too long. Too many families have been destroyed and lives ruined because of the insanity surrounding the illegality of marijuana.

Cannabis is _not_ a controlled dangerous substance, despite being considered so by the federal government. Cannabis is a safer alternative to other pharmaceuticals medically… and safer than tobacco or alcohol use recreationally.

Please check out this video I found on YouTube titled, “It’s Time for a Cannabis Conversation”. This is part 1.

Ron Paul and Barney Frank Introduce Bill To Legalize Marijuana!

Many people including myself went through elementary school, middle school, etc… believing that marijuana was evil and did terrible things to people (Thanks, D.A.R.E.!).

Eventually, I learned that this was not so. Marijuana has great medicinal purposes, and is extremely useful in so many ways… how can we forget how many things can be done with hemp alone?

Alcohol, a legal chemical – causes more devastation and destruction in lives than marijuana could ever possibly cause. Marijuana is SAFER than tobacco or alcohol, but thanks to a complacent and uneducated population, its use and possession is prohibited.

We need to wake the hell up, people. The face of marijuana is not the lazy stoner on the couch. It’s the people who have jobs, are supporting families, have college degrees. The people medicating for extremely debilitating illnesses…. the people who suffer from panic attacks.. and on and on.

With that said, please check out this video… FINALLY some action is being taken. This is the first bill written in 74 YEARS that tackles the topic of the federal legality of consuming, owning and growing cannabis.

Delaware Legalizes Medical Marijuana

Text from video:
“Delaware Legalizes The Use Of Medical Marijuana “:
“After passing through Dover’s Legislative Hall, Governor Markell has officially signed Senate Bill 17, the bill that legalizes the use of medical marijuana in Delaware. Although the process to dispense the drug will take a year to begin, it gives new hope to Delawareans suffering from cancer, AIDS and other painful diseases. The new law makes Delaware the 16th state to decriminalize marijuana possession, use and distribution for limited medical purposes, but the law is also one of the strictest in the nation. At the outset, there will be only one not-for-profit dispensary in each county, and residents will not be permitted to grow their own marijuana at home. Up to six ounces per month of the drug will be available to individuals who qualify to receive it. The law also requires patients to have exhausted all other medical remedies before being prescribed marijuana by a doctor with whom they have a “bona fide patient-physician relationship”. Also, patients must be 18 or older and are required to have a medical marijuana identification card with them while in possession of the drug. Restrictions are imposed regarding where marijuana can be possessed and consumed. Multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and post-traumatic stress disorder are among the limited number of medical conditions that qualify for the program. Unlike other states, glaucoma, Crohn’s disease and the early stages of hepatitis C are not considered to be acceptable for medical marijuana use. Governor Markell released a statement saying, “We made clear that this would need to be very limited in scope and actively targeted to only Delawareans with profound and chronic illness like cancer and ALS. It is. This bill needed to be about giving targeted help to the most sick in a way that made medical sense, and it is.”
